Learn how your colleagues are making the transition from in-person to virtual conferences to support the needs of events during the COVID-19 pandemic. This panel will answer questions designed to help you determine how to make the transition to profitable virtual event hosting through the exploration of challenges and successes.
The International Association of Fire Safety Science (IAFSS) is delighted to welcome you to the 13th International Symposium on Fire Safety Science which is being hosted by the University of Waterloo, Canada as a virtual event during the week of April 26 to 30, 2021.
The Symposium is the premier fire safety science meeting in the world. Over the five days of the Symposium, the program features invited lectures from the world’s top fire science researchers, panel sessions showcasing fully peer-reviewed papers and posters highlighting recent work. In addition to the technical sessions, networking and social activities are planned where colleagues and friends can informally meet and visit with one another.
Symposium activities will be preceded by a week of workshops from April 19 to 23, 2021 with presentations and discussions on current topics in fire safety science. You will be able to register for these as you progress through the registration process below.
Research areas highlighted at the Symposium include material behaviour in fires, fire dynamics, fire chemistry, structures in fire, fire suppression, wildland and WUI fires, evacuation and human behaviour, fire risk analysis and fire safety design. Other topics include fire detection and smoke control, explosions and industrial fires, fire codes and standards and fire safety management.

For those who want to attend only one or two workshops and not the full Symposium, you must register for each workshop you are interested in. For this chose 'Workshop Registration' and follow the directions. Your fees are summarized and applied at the end of your registration.

Cancellation Policy: General registration cancellations less a $25.00 administration fee will be accepted until Thursday, April 8, 2021. Substitutions are welcome. No shows are responsible for payment in full and no refunds will be made as of Friday, April 9, 2021.
